Strengthening Caregivers, Strengthening Children
When a child is vulnerable, the strength of the caregiver can make a lasting difference.
On 11 September 2026, Destiny Helping Hands (DHH) facilitated a caregiver training session for 20 caregivers of vulnerable children in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya.
The session was part of DHH's six-month Caregiver Resilience and Positive Parenting Training Programme, designed to strengthen the knowledge, skills and resilience of caregivers supporting children in vulnerable circumstances.
Supporting More Than Immediate Needs
Caring for vulnerable children goes beyond providing food, education, shelter, healthcare and other immediate support.
Children also need safe and supportive environments where they can feel protected, valued, listened to and encouraged to grow.
Caregivers play a central role in creating these environments. Their daily decisions, communication, guidance and support can influence how children experience safety, confidence and belonging.
This is why Destiny Helping Hands is investing in caregivers as an important part of its work with vulnerable children.
Building Caregiver Resilience Through Training
The training programme provides an opportunity for caregivers to learn, reflect and strengthen practical skills that can support children and families.
The six-month approach also recognises that meaningful learning requires more than a single session. Continued engagement gives caregivers the opportunity to build on what they learn and apply it in their daily lives.
The 20 caregivers who participated in this session represent families and children who can benefit from stronger caregiving support within their communities.
An Invitation to Support the Programme
To deliver quality and meaningful training, Destiny Helping Hands needs essential training and participant materials to support the programme.
Partnership and donor support can help make it possible to continue equipping caregivers with the knowledge and resources they need to support vulnerable children.
When we strengthen caregivers, we strengthen children. When we strengthen children, we strengthen the future.
Destiny Helping Hands invites partners, donors and organisations committed to child wellbeing and community resilience to join this effort.
Together, we can build stronger caregivers, stronger families and a more resilient community for vulnerable children in Kakuma.
